I have been fascinated by the extraordinary results that acupuncture has in the field of neurology, specifically in stroke rehabilitation. There have been cases where a patient, having been paralyzed on one side of their body and unable to speak after suffering a stroke, was restored to health after 3 months of acupuncture treatment.

Another more publicized case was heralded in the recently released movie, “9000 Needles”. A body-builder and father of 2, Devin Dearth suffered a crippling stroke in his early 40’s. After exhausting the rehabilitation options through his insurance company, Devin travels with his family to China to undergo 12 weeks of intensive rehabilitation therapy. I won’t give away the ending, but it’s a tear-jerker-feel-good movie, that challenges the status quo of conventional therapy.
